Conditions of participation governing seminars, symposia and conferences provided by the FHNW School of Social Work

1. Scope
These conditions of participation apply to seminars, symposia and conferences (hereinafter “events”) provided by the continuing education programmes of the FHNW School of Social Work. Separate conditions of participation apply to the structured continuing education programmes – CAS, DAS and MAS – offered by the FHNW School of Social Work.

2. Contents of the continuing education events / administration of justice
The contents of the continuing education events are detailed in their respective flyers. The FHNW School of Social Work reserves the right to change the implementation and lecturing arrangements of the events. Claims cannot be brought as a result of such changes.

3. Registration and fees
By registering, participants undertake to pay the continuing education event fees in full and on time. These fees and payment methods are detailed in the flyers applicable at the time of registration. Accommodation, meals and travel are not included in the fees.
The fees remain payable in full even if an individual event is not attended or attendance is discontinued early. If discontinuation is for a valid reason (in particular illness), the persons responsible for the event in question may waive all or part of the fees upon presentation of relevant evidence such as a medical certificate.

4. Withdrawal by the participant
Withdrawal from continuing education events by the participant following confirmation of registration by the FHNW School of Social Work must be made in writing.

  • The FHNW School of Social Work levies 50 % of the fees for withdrawals four weeks prior to the start of a continuing education event.
  • The FHNW School of Social Work levies 100 % of the fees for withdrawals within four weeks prior of the start of the continuing education event.

5. Cancellation/postponement and changes to events by the FHNW School of Social Work
The FHNW School of Social Work reserves the right to make changes to its events (location, time, lecturers, contents, etc.) for the purposes of quality maintenance and/or organisation and feasibility.

The FHNW School of Social Work reserves the right to cancel or postpone a continuing education event in the event of insufficient registrations. Registered persons will be notified in writing (email or post) of the cancellation/postponement of a continuing education event no later than four weeks prior to start of the event.

In the event of a cancellation by the FHNW School of Social Work, the latter will reimburse any fees already paid.

In the event of a postponement, registered persons may withdraw their registration in writing within 14 days of being notified. In this case, the FHNW School of Social Work will reimburse any fees already paid. Any other claims for compensation are expressly excluded.

Changes to events as outlined in paragraph 1 are not deemed to be cancellations or postponements.

6. Insurance
It is the responsibility of the participant to obtain accident and liability insurance. The FHNW declines all liability.

7. Data protection and copyright
The data protection regulations of the FHNW govern the way it uses data.

The participant expressly acknowledges that persons attending continuing education events may be issued with a list of participants containing contact details, and that their name and address may be stored for internal purposes and used, for instance, for marketing purposes by the FHNW. No personal data is shared with third parties.

Event and teaching materials are protected by copyright. Unauthorised copying or distribution outside the FHNW School of Social Work is prohibited without the written consent of the persons responsible for the event.

8. Applicable law
The sole place of jurisdiction for disputes shall be the courts in Brugg-Windisch. Swiss law shall apply.

9. Validity
These conditions of participation enter into force on 1 April 2022 and replace those of 20 June 2018.
